Pop Up 2022
The PICES 2022 Pop Up Exhibition was held over the month of January and proved to be a fantastic success with many holiday makers, locals and collectors coming from far and wide to view some of our expanding showcase of talent.
Despite the continuing threat and impact of Covid on the event, it did not seem to change an enormous appetite for the amazing array of work in this great Pop up Exhibition and we were absolutely delighted to see so many of the artworks sold, with over $15,000 in art sales (an astounding 25% increase on 2021)
This was a genuine grass-roots community project from beginning to end. PICES, as a not-for-profit organisation could not present these pop up exhibitions without the tireless efforts of our incredibly dedicated volunteers, who work so energetically and enthusiastically from beginning to end to deliver a successful exhibition.
Showcased over the 4 weeks were a range of incredible and diverse works from 28 Artists from Phillip Island, Bass Coast and beyond. The exhibition was curated by Warren Nichols who worked tirelessly to make sure each week's changeover to a new exhibition of work went without a hitch. Many long, relentless but rewarding hours of work goes into every week's changeover of work. Each year just gets better and better as the reputation and awareness of the Pop Ups grows.
This was, most likely, the last Pop Up Exhibition in the PICAL venue, as PICAL is moving from the site later this year to make room for the build of the new hospital. PICES has have already scoped out a potential new venue and is looking forward to curating many more exciting exhibitions in the future.
